The Final Release of the Firefly Collection?
Yep, that’s the official plan. We’ll still do more patches, of course. But the Firefly Collection will now be complete with these final four designs. The “Firefly” designation is determined by a laser-cut nylon upper and a lower made from orange 3M Diamond Grade DG3 Reflective.
Because of these being the last pieces to complete the Firefly puzzle, we wanted these last 4 to be very special. For the first 4 patches in the Firefly Collection, we went all 500D Cordura nylon; an iconic black colorway (P01) and then 3 patterns from the incredible MultiCam®️ camouflage family (P02, P03, and P04). Of course, there’s an entire world of camo patterns out there… from different times in history and from different countries/regions across the globe. We compiled a dream list of our 4 favorite patterns, regardless of their era, location, or difficulty to find them.
Well, that’s easier said than done. You’ll notice it’s been 2 months since our last patch release. That’s because we’ve been busy digitally searching warehouses around the world for NOS (new old stock) rolls or scrap yardage of these rare fabric patterns that have been hiding away or that time has forgotten. Thanks to some great friends and a whole lot of digging, we were able to find some of these tucked away. Special shoutout to a great friend of Carryology, Spencer McDonald, who secured us some genuine Auscam (his own!) from Australia. Long story short, as simple as this may seem… this was no small task.
P07 Firefly Tigerstripe
Tigerstripe is a unique and mysterious one. Its history isn’t quite as linear or clear as some of the other official government approved armed forces patterns. Tigerstripe can be traced back to the French military who fought in Vietnam. After they left, the Vietnamese military adopted the pattern. Later, the US sent in advisors who worked with the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, who were wearing the pattern. Because of this partnership, certain groups in the US military were approved to wear this camo. But, it was only the best of the best; SEALs, Green Berets, and other elite forces. It became synonymous with “bad ass”.
