An absolutely stunning piece. Souvenir jackets first became popular during the postwar period when soldiers stationed in Japan would have lavishly embroidered jackets custom made. These customs spread round the world, and soon troops serving in Germany could find them. This example was made for 'Mary Ann', likely the wife of a solider serving in Frankfurt, Germany from 1958-59.
